Leasing

Leasing at Sun Fire Stables

Leasing is a unique opportunity at Sun Fire Stables (SFS) for clients who have progressed through our "Level Up" program, understand our facility’s rules and procedures, and are paired with a horse or pony that aligns with their riding goals and skills.

Who Can Lease?

Leasing is available to riders who:

  • Have completed standard lessons in our "Level Up" program.

  • Are knowledgeable, safe, and self-sufficient in horse handling.

Please note that leasing may be limited from June to August due to youth day camps and high summer demand.

Our Lesson Lease Program

The "Lesson Lease" includes:

  • Four standard lessons per month

  • Two "Ride-On-Your-Own" (ROYO) sessions per month

The monthly lease fee is $250, due on the first of each month. A 30-day written notice is required to terminate a lease. Missed lessons or ROYO sessions are not banked or carried over to the next month.

Facility Access and Tack Use

During the lease period, you will have the same access to SFS facilities as a full-time boarder. You are welcome to use the provided tack, or, if preferred, your own tack as long as it fits the horse properly.

SFS will continue to provide the necessary care for the horse, including routine health services like vaccines, dental care, deworming, and hoof maintenance.

Important Leasing Guidelines

  • Lesson Required: All lease options include lessons to ensure both horse and rider continue progressing and improving. This helps provide riders with new skills and ensures the horse remains well-cared for.

  • Horse Availability: If your lease horse is temporarily unavailable due to injury or other events (such as shows or Girl Scout activities), SFS will provide a suitable replacement.

  • Riding Restrictions: Some horses may have specific limitations, such as restrictions on jumping, extended cantering, or trail riding alone. Each horse or pony will have personalized instructions for their care and conditioning.

  • Ride Scheduling: ROYO sessions should be scheduled with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to ensure they don’t interfere with lesson horse availability. Generally, Saturday and Sunday afternoons or weekday mornings tend to be quieter times, making them ideal for scheduling your rides. Busy lesson times include Tuesday, Thursday, and Wednesday afternoons and evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings. Youth leasers must have an adult present during the ROYO times

Lease Termination

A 30-day written notice is required to terminate a lease agreement. SFS does not offer lease options that exclude lessons to ensure the safety and progress of both the horse and rider.
